David Jacobs, Senior Safety Specialist & DOT Compliance Manager, is an avid 3D printer. Step into his office and see many of his creations on display.
Safety and Compliance are core business values at TTSI, and per regulations and company policy, we install devices to manage safety and provide diagnostic information on our tractors.
Vision Logistics, our division in the Chicago area, is in the process of replacing 53 company-owned tractors. The in-cab devices run GeoTab, which provides valuable diagnostics for our in-house service department and requires two device holders. Unfortunately, these holders did not arrive with the correct adaptors to secure them properly.
To quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively maintain safety and compliance, David proposed using his skill in 3D printing to design and print the correct adaptors. The team agreed, and the adaptors for all the tractors were created and shipped to Vision.
"David was so creative and innovative by making a mount on his 3D printer and saved the company a lot of time and money," remarked Director of Safety Ron Zullo.
