Total Transport Services Inc. (TTSI) has signed a 30-day trial run of Hyzon's Class 8 heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) during the fourth quarter of 2021.
Hyzon's truck is the first fuel cell electric vehicle with a range of 400 miles. Built on a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia chassis, the truck has 600 peak horsepower. It will fuel at the new public heavy-duty hydrogen refueling station in Wilmington, CA.
“Deploying the truck in real operations was a key requirement for us,” said Vic LaRosa, president of TTSI. “TTSI’s trucks run 18 to 20 hours each day, hauling heavy loads. Hyzon’s FCEVs provide the quick refueling and high performance necessary to meet these operational needs.”

TTSI's goal is to run a 100% zero-emission fleet nationwide and rigorously test every zero and near-zero-emission vehicle on the market, from hydrogen fuel cell and battery electric to natural gas and hybrids. 13,000-14,000 trucks operate at the Long Beach port every year, emitting about 2,600 tons of CO2. Switching to a zero-emission truck model will dramatically improve the air quality and health of the drivers and surrounding communities.
