Chelsey Boyd, Operations Manager for the Total Transportation Services (TTSI) Brokerage Division, discusses her success in growing the Brokerage Division. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Chelsey began her carrier as a Brokerage Operations assistant at Tri Pak and continues to bring her energy and expertise from those offices.
Q. Chelsey, it is great to hear you’ve been promoted to the manager position of the TTSI Brokerage Division. Congratulations! Let’s talk about your position. How do you explain to people what you do?

A. The brokerage division is a full-service entity covering anywhere in the United States. I have been growing the Brokerage by converting leads generated by our corporate headquarters here locally in the PNW at Tri Pak and the individual divisions of TTSI that span all USA regions. I have streamlined carrier and customer onboarding and procedures and increased the carrier base for the Brokerage. Currently, I’m growing the number of brokers we have. I’ve been hiring, managing the growth, overseeing all their accounts and training, and reporting.
Q. It’s an exciting time for sure. Where do you see the brokerage heading?
A. I feel the greatest potential, or how I’d like to direct growth for the Brokerage and TTSI family, is to become the bridge between all TTSI’s other divisions to support and work together to handle loads from A to B.
Q. How is the Brokerage unique?
A. Since the Brokerage can do what the divisions themselves cannot (i.e., some transloading, warehousing, OTR moves). We make TTSI a truly full-service company.
Q. What opportunities do you see for your next step in managing the Brokerage?
A. There are so many opportunities, and I would like to bring in more people to grow and create new procedures for back-office support and help streamline the current daily processes.
Q. What are you most proud of so far in this process?
When Tri Pak was brought in under the TTSI umbrella, we had to start from scratch, and I am proud of what we’ve accomplished in a couple of years as to growth.
Q. What do you like about your position?
A. I enjoy learning about the other TTSI divisions and working with everyone across the country to bring us together and help give the company more of a familial feel.
